Counselling made easy
SHORT-TERM COUNSELLING FOR ACUTE DISTRESS
Sometimes life reaches a point where everything feels overwhelming.
A relationship breakdown. A sudden loss. A moment of emotional crisis.
An unexpected event can leave us overwhelmed.
In those moments you don't always need long-term therapy.
Brief intervention model usually involves 2- 6 sessions, to regain clarity and become clear on next steps.
Many clients feel significant relief within those sessions, although additional support is available if needed.
Sometimes you need the right support at the right time.
RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING
Many couples believe the problem is communication.
Often, the deeper issue is the pattern underneath the communication.
One person pursues. The other withdraws.
One feels unheard. The other feels criticised.
One feels alone. The other feels like they can never get it right.
In our sessions - we’ll explore what happens beneath the surface — the ways you protect yourself, pull away, shut down, or reach for control — and how these responses can shape the connection you have with the person you love.
Eventually, you will stop having the same exhausting arguments.
The goal isn't finding who is right. The goal is creating a healthier way forward.
Whether you're attending alone or as a couple, we'll focus on building better ways of communicating, understanding each other and reconnecting.
How I work:
Relationships are rarely about one person; it’s about a relationship dynamic.
Each partner brings their own history, communication style, beliefs and emotional wound into the relationship.
For this reason, I generally begin relationship counselling by meeting with each partner individually for the first two sessions.
This allows each person the opportunity to speak openly, share their perspective and identify personal patterns without interruption or defensiveness.
Once both individual sessions are complete, we begin working together as a couple.
Relationship counselling typically involves 8–12 sessions, although this varies depending on the complexity and the commitment of both partners.
ANXIETY AND STRESS
Anxiety often feels like it appears out of nowhere.
But there's usually more going on internally.
We'll explore what's keeping your mind on constant alert, understand what is behind your anxiety and develop practical strategies that help you respond differently.
Together we explore:
what triggers your anxiety
why certain situations feel overwhelming
practical tools to create more calm, choice and control.
How it impacts the brain, processing speed and the response and how to change this.
With counselling you’ll develop the ability to feel calmer in situations that used to overwhelm you.
I work with people experiencing:
General anxiety
Chronic stress
Overthinking
Panic symptoms
Workplace stress and burnout
Relationship anxiety
Life transitions
Low confidence and self-doubt
Emotional overwhelm
Feeling stuck or lost
Many clients begin noticing improvements within 6–10 sessions, while long-standing anxiety or anxiety connected to trauma may require more sessions.
TRAUMA INFORMED COUNSELLING
Trauma isn’t always caused by one major event.
It can develop through childhood experiences, emotionally unavailable relationships, neglect, family dysfunction, abuse, loss or chronic stress that taught us to survive rather than thrive.
Sometimes, trauma is shaped by repeated experiences such as:
feeling unseen, unheard or misunderstood
having to be strong all the time
learning to please others to be accepted
growing up without the emotional support
carrying responsibilities that were too much, too soon
Old wounds can influence:
how we see ourselves
how we respond under stress or overwhelm
the relationships we create and connection with others
our communication and handling of conflict
These experiences can leave lasting imprints on the way we move through the world.
Trauma-informed counselling builds confidence and create a stronger sense of control moving forward.
Healing from trauma is rarely achieved in one or two sessions.
While every person is different, meaningful trauma work generally requires a commitment of approximately 10–20 sessions, depending on the complexity of life experiences.
With consistency, insight and practical strategies, lasting change is absolutely possible.
